Paper Submission Guidelines

PREPARATION OF PRESENTATIONS

  • Papers that are presented at the conference will be included as PDF files in the Conference Proceedings, which will take the form of a USB memory stick. These papers will also be included in the IEEE XploreR Digital Library.
  • A computer, an LCD projector, a microphone and a laser pointer will be provided.
  • There will be two ways of doing your presentation: with your own laptop connected to the LCD projector (we cannot guarantee the compatibility), or uploading your presentation to a server provided by ICSOS. The access method will be notified. To avoid any delay, we strongly recommend uploading the presentation to the ICSOS server, even if you plan to use your own computer.
  • Presenters should arrive at their session at least 20 minutes earlier than the start time of the session, introduce themselves and hand in a brief biography to the session chair before the session starts.
  • Presenters are requested to verify that the presentation displays correctly. This will help ensure that your presentation will proceed smoothly.
  • Please, be sure to be seated at the presenters’ seats located at the side of the stage 5 minutes prior to the start of the session.
  • There is no rehearsal room reserved. Please, make sure in advance that your fi le works correctly in the oral presentation room.
  • Each lecture presentation is allocated 15 minutes (20 minutes for invited speakers). You should spend about 12 minutes for presentation of the problem, the background, the innovative approach, the new results and the comparative evaluation. An additional 3 minutes should be available for discussion with the attendees.
  • The session chairs have been instructed to terminate overrunning presentations in order to ensure that every presenter has the same amount of time. If you exceed your time, you risk missing the chance for questions or even completing your presentation. So, please practice the timing in advance!
  • The presenter should prepare a reasonable number of illustrations-transparencies or a PowerPoint file, so as not to exceed the 12-minute time. Typically, one illustration is presented in one to two minutes.
  • Additional illustrations could be prepared to support possible answers to attendees’ questions.
  • Each illustration should not be crowded by text and graphics. Too much text should be avoided. Graphics help in communications, are more understandable, and point out the basic ideas. Use large fonts so they can be read without a major effort; typically, 18-20-point fonts should be used.
  • Presentation should be clearly structured. Begin with a title page. The index of the presentation should outline the presentation. The basic problem should be clearly stated, as well as the application area. Background and previous work should be summarized to provide a prospective for the results presented in the paper. The innovative approach should be clearly stated. The application of the approach to the application problem should be described, by pointing out the main features and characteristics, the problems and the solutions. The results should be clearly outlined and evaluated. Appropriate comparison with previous results should be presented. Conclusions should summarize the work performed and point out the main innovation and results. Future work and developments could also be sketched.

IEEE POLICY ANNOUNCEMENT

  • To be published in the IEEE ICSOS 2019 Conference Proceedings and IEEE XploreR, at least one Author of an accepted paper is required to register for the conference a FULL Rate as ComSoc Member, IEEE/Sister Society Member or Non-Member and the paper must be presented at the conference. Nonrefundable registration fees must be paid prior to uploading the final IEEE formatted, publication ready version of the paper. For authors with multiple accepted papers, one full registration is valid for up to three (3) papers. Please do not share your registration confirmation code with anyone else. Although the code enables submission of up to three papers, it can only be used once, by you, to create an Author account. Accepted and presented papers will be published in the IEEE ICSOS 2019 Conference Proceedings and in IEEE XploreR.
  • IEEE reserves the right to exclude a paper from distribution after the conference (e.g., removal from IEEE Xplore) if the paper is not presented at the conference.
  • Student and Life Member registration is not valid as an author registration.
  • Papers are reviewed on the basis that they do not contain plagiarized material and have not been submitted to any other conference at the same time (double submission). These matters are taken very seriously, and the IEEE Communications society will take action against any author who has engaged in either practice.
